According to FAO, the Philippines ranks 8th in the list of countries with who had 5 million or more undernourished people. There is a strong colleration between malnutrition and poverty. The typical diet severly lacks protien and other essential macro and micronutrients causing to body to draw heavily on it's body's protein creating a protein-energy malnourishment. This PEM can start as early as the fetal stage and is most devastating to children under 2 years old. PEM can cause damages to children that includes lower intelligence, reduced physical capacity, and passing on malnutrition to the next generation. These result to reduction in productivity and sluggish economic growth, which perpetuate the cycle of poverty.
The Lebumfacil-Santa Ana Medical Foundation tries to address this problem by aiding poor farmers in achieving proper nutrition.
Under the auspices of Micahel Overs, we distribute 400 farm-ranged chickens every month since 2006 to marginalized farmers who have poor access to protein sources. The Foundation hopes that the recepient farmer will raise these chicken on their farm on farm by-products and that in due time, these chickens may provide eggs and meat for them.

Poverty is more than a lack of income. It is a deprivation of and lack of access to essential assets. We try to address this problem by giving qualified recepients a source of livelihood. This hog-raising-fattening project was one of the Foundation's initial projects and has met considerable success.
Eggs add protein to one's diet, as well as various nutrients. Chicken eggs supply all essential amino acids for humans, and provide several vitamins and minerals, They are also an inexpensive single-food source of protein. These eggs that we give to the severly malnourished children are farm-ranged eggs and are produced by our chicken project recepients.

The Foundation's Agriculture Specialist, Mr. Arvin Donan has set up demonstration farms across the district. We aim to provide farmers a glimpse and a model on proper and modern agriculture practices.
The Philippines has over 4 million hectares of productive farm land yet is the world's biggest importer of rice. This mainly due to unmanaged rice farms, ballooning polulation, insufficient government support and poor implementation of agricultural programs. Further, the government's Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program has discouraged private investment in rice farming and has left the famer-beneficiary no source of funding to cultivate his land.
The Lebumfacil-Santa Ana Medical Foundation tries to aid these farmers through agricultural education, establishment of demonstration farms, access to better and high-yeilding seed varieties, and financial assistance.

Microenterprises has fueled great changes in some countries and is one of the most dynamic and heterogeneous force in a community. Microenterprise development is considered a mechanism for poverty reduction based on its capacity to generate employment and raise earnings.
